I have worked in the print trade for the last 22 years starting as a school leaver at 16. I have worked in all areas of the industry culminating in me setting up my own company 12 years ago. I have been fortunate enough to grow and expand my companies over the years and am now the Managing Director of Pure Point of Sale Ltd who service a number of Blue Chip Retailers in the UK and Europe and we have experienced great success and growth over the last few years. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and gardening.
Charlie Styles has been vicar of Lutterworth since 2013. He plays a role in the governance of Sherrier Primary School, St Mary’s School Bitteswell and the Lutterworth Academies Trust. Charlie has a heart for all the people of Lutterworth, whether or not they share his faith in Jesus Christ. He has been a significant part of starting the Lutterworth and Villages food bank and plays a number of different roles in the wider community.
I have been a Governor of Lutterworth College for 21 years, starting as an elected parent and currently as a Community Governor and Chairman for the last 10 years. I work in the voluntary sector as Manager of the Volunteer Centre, Lutterworth – a volunteering development agency and provider of direct services with volunteers in the local community. Chairman of the One Stop Shop which is the home of the Voluntary Sector in the area – a co-operative where voluntary community sector organisations share resources and work collaboratively. A track record of being successful in a variety of funding bids for specific projects. Before entering the Voluntary Sector I was Sales and Marketing Manager for a small company in management Education in partnership with Leicester University which involved regular trips to South Asia. Prior to that I worked for Mr. Kipling Cakes for 14 years in various positions. My final post being Supply Liaison Manager responsible for Forecasting and Customer Services for the company. Other interests 6 Grandchildren all living locally, keeping fit, walking and swimming.
Helen Christie, Vice Chair
I started as Foundation Governor for the College in September 2016 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in April 2017. Previous to this I was Chair of Governors at Gilmorton Chandler Primary school for four years and served another five years there before that. I am a trained Primary School teacher and have worked in London, Italy, Nottingham and Leicestershire. I took time out to have my children who are both in secondary education now, one of whom attends the College. I currently work part time at Lifeplan Products, Lutterworth, in the finance department. My hobbies/interests are running, skiing, reading and supporting my husband and daughters at canoeing events.
I’m married with two children. We moved to Lutterworth twelve years ago from Lancashire. My eldest is a pupil at Lutterworth College and my youngest attends Lutterworth High School. Prior to joining the governing body at the College I was a governor at John Wycliffe Primary School for eight years and the Chair of Governors there for the final three years. I’m a qualified accountant and the finance director of a Coventry based national charity that develops and operates retirement villages. Prior to that, I worked in the regional press for twenty years. In my spare time I try and run (badly) and enjoy family time.
Maureen has been a qualified social worker and manager for over 30 years. This experience is spread equally across Local Authority and Voluntary Sector Organisations. Maureen has managed a wide range of both adult and children’s services during that time, including 8 years as a Director of Children’s Services.
Since becoming an independent consultant in 2008, Maureen has specialised in working with organisations in the UK (and overseas) who are looking at service improvement and performance management. Maureen is a safeguarding sector specialist with C4EO, a Research in Practice associate, and a qualified LGA Peer Reviewer. Maureen is an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham on the MA Social work programme where she has taught since 2010. She is also a visiting tutor and lecturer on the MA social work programme at the University of Warwick.
Maureen is a qualified coach and has been involved in a number of local authorities in introducing coaching techniques into social work practice and providing coaching for social work managers. Aside from my professional experience, Maureen has been a school governor (including Chair of Governors) at both primary and secondary school level. Maureen is currently a Director at Lutterworth Academies Trust.
Vivianne Lawson – (Staff Director)
Viv became a staff Director of the MAT in September 2015, having worked as a teacher at Lutterworth College since April 2003. Having had several different leadership roles within the Trust, Viv’s current role is Head of Faculty for Maths Business and Computing with responsibility across the Lutterworth Academies Trust. Viv teaches Accounting and Business courses.
Viv’s first degree is in Business and Marketing, from the University of Stirling. Upon leaving university Viv undertook a graduate trainee scheme with a national building society, qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Bankers, and then worked in management positions in the personal finance sector for several years. Viv completed her PGCE at the University of Warwick in 2002, including a training placement at Lutterworth College, at the end of which Viv was offered a job! Viv returned to Warwick and completed an MA in Educational Leadership and Innovation in 2011.t.m
Nick Summers – (Head Teacher)
Nick has 20 years’ experience in education occupying a number of leadership roles in several different academies. Before entering education Nick worked in international logistics for 16 years in a number of commercial leadership roles including marketing, sales and operations. During his time in industry Nick had many overseas placements including France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden & Finland. During this time Nick also obtained a BA (Hons) in Business and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law.
Nick entered education in 1999 having obtained a PGCE at the University of Warwick to teach Business & Economics. This was further supplemented by achieving a MBA in 2005. Nick is a published author on the impact of the Private Finance Initiative for schools. He has worked predominantly in schools in the Milton Keynes area before joining Lutterworth College in 2015 as a Deputy Head. In the next two years Nick led the school’s outcomes to a point where in 2017, Lutterworth College became the highest attaining school in Leicestershire. He then took over the Acting Head Teacher position and led the school through a Section 5 inspection to achieve a Good outcome. Ofsted stated that Nick is a ‘highly principled leader’and that ‘Since his arrival at the school two years ago, the headteacher has worked energetically to improve the quality of education’. In early 2018 Nick was appointed substantive Head Teacher for the Lutterworth Academies Trust.
